Happy Birthday to us!

Marzee Labs celebrates 5 years this month

Let's celebrate!

It has been already five years that Marzee Labs was legally created. What a journey!

Marzee Labs was born as a freelancers collective back in 2012. Our co-founders, João Belchior, Nuno Veloso and Peter Vanhee were working together as freelancers and after getting a big project with one of our main clients they decided to create the company.

At the time, Nuno and Peter were living "la vida loca" in Barcelona and Marzee Labs was legally instituted in Spain. From Barcelona to the world, a lot has happened in those 5 years.

We increased the number of projects. We expanded frontiers working with new countries like the US and Japan. We hired a full-stack developer called Luís and when he decided to go for a new professional experience, we hired another Luís. João has found his copy - a web designer with mad frontend skills (our Pedro). Peter became a dad and moved to London, so we now have a virtual office there too. And after a lot of trials, we finally hired a girl, our business developer Ana.

We have learned so much during the past years and we have grown not just as a company but also as persons.

To celebrate our journey we decided to launch a series of monthly clippings with news from the team, articles we find useful and events our team will attend. We believe that inspiring each other is very important for us to evolve as a team and we want to share this with our partners, clients and friends.

Inspiration and Learning

INSPIRATION AND LEARNING

Shared by Pedro Santos - JavaScript is one of the most popular programming languages in the world and is now widely used also outside of the browser. The JavaScript Handbook follows the 80/20 rule: learn 80% of JavaScript in 20% of the time.

Shared by Nuno Veloso - Spending over 11 years in providing enterprise solutions to a diverse and international clientele enabled us to recognize the importance of a smooth and perfect project launch.

Shared by Pedro Santos - There’s always an abundance of articles forecasting trends and developments before the new year. Experts in the field agree that personalized marketing and the dominance of video will accelerate in 2018.

Imagine a React app that shows a list of tasks.

Since the dawn of computing, we have been collecting exponentially growing amounts of data, constantly asking more from our data storage, processing, and analysis technology.

Shared by Ana Rossetto - For each of the four formal events for inspection and adaptation, it shares some guidelines, pointers and considerations that helped me in my journey to understanding and practising Scrum. Let’s kick it off with the Sprint Planning.

Shared by Nuno Veloso - Illustrator and blogger Sarah Cooper has published a hilarious and very true book “100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings“. This is a sneak-peak selection of the 20 funniest tricks you should totally use.
